40w0d: Due date

According to Franz Naegele's 1812 calculations, today is my due date. It has been 266 days since conception.

I can still feel the little guy wiggling around inside, but no painful contractions or other signs of labour.

My docgtor says that as my gestational diabetes is under control, she won't induce for another 10 days. So we still don't know if he'll be a July or August baby.

Truth be told, I'm a bit terrified of the next stage. Not so much the birth, but the whole being responsible for a new human being thing. It seems like such a huge responsibility, and I've never even held a newborn before. Now I'm supposed to be a mother? There are so many unknowns - soothing, breastfeeding, playing, nurturing...

After everything we've gone through, I really hope that I'm good at this.

New bump photos here.

  1. You will be a rockstar of a Mommy!!!!
So much will come naturally. Get help from the nurses in the nursery while you're still in the hospital for anything from diapering to bathing to figuring out a feeding schedule.

  4. I am so happy for you! I can't wait to hear the news. I know it seems scary now, but when they put that sweet boy in your arms you will just know what to do. No worries my friend. You were born to be a mama :)

  5. Looking good! Don't worry about the next stage - you'll be just fine. If a scared 16 year old can do it, you can too, especially with your DH there for support!
Good luck with L&D, and can't wait to see the little guy!

  6. Parachuting in to offer some assvice. I put SO much pressure on myself to be a great mum- you know, because it took so long to get here, and I had time to read all this stuff and get prepared, yada yada yada. And that pressure just makes me miserable. I'm best when I just do what I can, and accept that if E. is happy and growing, that's more than just good enough.

LOVE your baby. Take time to get to know each other. Try to avoid the crazy pressure our society puts on us to be perfect mums, because they just don't exist.

I hope labour goes smoothly and quickly for you.
    xoxo
